God’s wrath is the counterpart to His righteousness. Paul’s argument is this: God’s wrath is deserved by all men because they have refused the revelation of God and His righteousness.
Let’s first look at two major reason why the heathen are lost: THE HEATHEN ARE LOST BECAUSE OF THEIR REVELATION OF GOD Romans 1:18-19 (NKJV) - For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. In the first three verses of this passage Paul says that man has revelation of God which has been manifested within them and shown to them, and because of that revelation, man is without excuse.

Skeptics ask one question more than any other about the validity of the Gospel message:"What about those who have never once heard about Jesus Christ? Will God send them to hell because they have never accepted a Jesus whom they have never heard?" And while few Christians ask the same questions, it is not because they are already believers. It is because they are not sure that they know the answer either. But there is an answer and we will pursue that in our next few devotions. We saw that that righteousness is gained before God in only one way.: through the righteousness that God provides in Christ Jesus. No one, can come to God without this righteousness in Christ Jesus, no one!
Romans 1:17 (NKJV) " For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
We begin our life in Christ by faith. We live our daily life by faith. Walking daily with the Lord but there is one more thing. We end our life by faith. Hebrews 11 shows us those who walked by faith. And Hebrews 11:39 says,"And all these , having obtained a good testimony, through faith..." Let me ask you, are you obtaining a good testimony or you just making it through life? In the Book of Revelation Jesus continually says this," To him who overcomes..." Then He has promise after promise for the Overcomers. You see we are born again by faith, we walk by faith and we die by faith. Does this describe your life? If it doesn't repent and return to your first love- Jesus ! Romans 1:17 (NKJV) " For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
We begin our life in Christ by faith and we continue to live by faith that is why Paul quotes an Old Testament verse, " The just shall live by faith." In Hebrews 11:6 is says," But without faith is is impossible to please Him(God)..." Whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Any walk that is less than the walk of faith is a sinful walk." Our Christian life is made of faith walking. If it is not then we are not obeying the Lord Jesus. Stop right here and ask yourself," Am I walking by faith or by sight?" Which one is it? Will you believe God's great promises for an invisible future or cling to the visible present? Romans 1:17 (NKJV) For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."
Here we go: We accept Christ Jesus as our personal Savior by faith. That is where it begins. It is God who gives us that faith to accept Jesus, to believe in Jesus, to believe His Word. That begins our faith walk. Someone said," There can be no spiritual reality apart from an active faith in Christ." So the Holy Spirit quickens us to our life of sin, we realize we need a Savior and God reveals us to His Son ,Jesus and we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and we are saved. The beginning of a new life. It all begins by faith. You see that don't you? |
