send me!

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people: "Isaiah 6:8-9

In 1972 Missionary Bob Burtis used this passage in a message about missions. God used that Word that day to call out both Sandra and I to missions. We went to Latin America in 1976 but came back to the US for some eighteen years before we were sent to Mexico. We have been here ever since. There is a definite call to Go and there is one who sends-God!

Abba Father, thank you for calling us to go. I hope and pray that we have been faithful to that calling. I know You have more for us to do and we are ready and willing to do so. Give us strength, stamina, and spirit to carry on Your work.

make disciples

"  And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”-Matthew 28:18-20

This command has been burned in my heart for ages. I have attempted to disciple men and women , to teach them about Christ's commands. I have found out that a person has to have a desire to be a disciple of Christ or they will not become one. I hope I can continue as a discipler of men until the Lord takes me home.

Abba Father, You have commanded us to make disciples; Your disciples- not my  disciples. Lord, why do we keep this commandment? Why doesn't others within the Body of Christ make disciples? Father send more workers for the harvest so they can disciple.

Power witness

" But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”-Acts 1:8
It seems/ it appears that one cannot be an effective witness without the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus told his disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit, which they did. On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit came in a miraculous way and that day 3000 people were saved. In the Welsh Revival after the Holy Spirit came 100,000 people were saved within 18 months. With God all things are possible.

Abba Father, I truly want to be a powerful witness for You. I desire to share with others the Good News and see people come into Your kingdom. Pour out your Spirit in a powerful way and may I be endued with power from above.- Amen!

That day...

" In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you." - John 16:23

What is the qualifying factor in asking God for anything? Or is there a qualifying factor? Can I ask anything? A house, a car, a job, a new church or more members and bigger offering? But if I am close and intimate with God it is not my selfish desires that I ask for but for His glory. I will ask according to His will.

Abba Father, You know I have continually asked for revival. I truly believe You want people to be revived, joyfully serving You. Your Son said we can ask anything in His name. I ask that You send a mighty revival. Send the Holy Spirit to do a work in us.-Amen!

Convicting power...

" And He, (Holy Spirit), when He comes, will convict the world of sin and righteousness and judgment." - John 16:8

You know when the Holy Spirit is truly working when you see people under conviction. They want to confess sin, want to live a righteous and holy life life, and they  are aware of a coming judgment in which we will all stand before God and give an account. How I want the Holy Spirit to work in my life and the life of our church.
Abba Father, let the Holy Spirit come and to convict us all of sin, of righteousness. I believe we desperately need this. We are too complacent, to content, to self-righteous in our spiritual lives. Come Holy Spirit, come. -Amen!
