And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people: "Isaiah 6:8-9 In 1972 Missionary Bob Burtis used this passage in a message about missions. God used that Word that day to call out both Sandra and I to missions. We went to Latin America in 1976 but came back to the US for some eighteen years before we were sent to Mexico. We have been here ever since. There is a definite call to Go and there is one who sends-God! Abba Father, thank you for calling us to go. I hope and pray that we have been faithful to that calling. I know You have more for us to do and we are ready and willing to do so. Give us strength, stamina, and spirit to carry on Your work.

" For I am confident of the very thing, that He who began a good work in you, will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Philippians 1:6
Years ago Jesus Christ began a work in me, perfecting, maturing me. He has continued to do that work in me ( sometimes I have cooperated and sometimes no). But He has and He will complete tha work until the day He comes for me. Abba Father, that You for You continual work in me, Thank You that You have not giving up on me. I pray that I may finish well. Finish strong because You are still working on me. " Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
Sometimes it is hard to rejoice, pray without ceasing and give thanks. But if I will stop and look around me, I can and I should rejoice, pray and give thanks. Everyday- in every way- I've got to say-" Thank You, Lord." Abba Father, today I rejoice in You, in Your salvation, I pray because You enjoy my fellowship and I give thanks for all the bountiful and wonderful blessings You bestow upon my family every day. -Amen! " ...rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality."- Romans 12:12-13
Am I doing what we are exhorted to do here from Romans 12? Is this a checklist of doing what a real follower of Christ should do because the love of Christ dwells with in me? I need to look closer at what I am doing or what I am not doing. Abba Father, I want to be what You want me to be and to do. I confess that I have a difficult time in giving of myself. Help me to be available, to be ready and to do what I need to do in Your kingdom.-Amen! This is from Oswald Chamber," My Utmost, For His Highest".
"...it is written, ' Be holy, for I am holy' " (1 Peter 1:16) We must continually remind ourselves of the purpose of life. We are not destined to happiness, nor to health, but to holiness. Today we have far too many desires and interests, and our lives are being consumed and wasted by them, Many of them may be right, noble, and good and may later be importance to us to decrease. The only thing that truly matters is whether a person will accept the God who will make him holy. At all costs , a person must have the right relationship with God. God has only one intended destiny for mankind- holiness." |
