1 Corinthians 1:3 (NLT2) -"May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace."
Who does not want that inner peace that comes from the grace of God? But we look around and we see turmoil, feuding and fighting. Internal and external struggles. We see the constant arguing among couples. The damage it does to the relationship and the family. When two profess to be followers of Christ, why are they continually bickering and fighting? For the "fruit of the Spirit" is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.( Gal.5:22). In a warring family there is no fruit of the Spirit in fact there is no presence of the Holy Spirit for they have deeply grieved Him and He doesn't go where He is welcome.

Romans 5:1 (NLT2)
" Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." There are several peace. Peace with God, where we are no longer enemies of God. There is the peace of God that reigns in our heart because God has taken the hate and replaced it with love. Then there is "peace on earth" as the angels declared that Christ was bringing to the earth. Two we can have now but that third one is not yet here and will not be completely and perfectly until the Prince of Peace is on His thrown. It is when there will be a New Heaven and a New Earth and Christ will reign from the New Jerusalem for He stated ," I will make all things new." I am ready for that, are you? Romans 5:1 (NLT2)
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Peace with God! When we are born we are natural enemies of God. We do not seek God, we do not love God. God is not on our minds because there is sin in our life and we seem to like it that way. But God in His love for us, seeks us out. Reveals His Son, Christ Jesus and gives us faith to accept Him. That is where peace comes in. That warring within us ceases because the Prince of Peace rules in our life. We find rest in Christ. Do you have that peace with God? Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)
" For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Do you read your Bible? Why? Do you attend a Bible study? For what reason? I recently read an article and watch part of a movie about the Disciple Making Movement in Iran. Yes, you read it right, Iran. God is doing a mighty work there. One statement that just rocked me was this,"We read the Bible not for information but for transformation." Is that why you read it? Psalm 85:6 (NASB) "Will You not Yourself revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You?"
This statement implies that at one time these people were alive and serving but they had fallen away. They were dead spiritually. The Psalmist says "Will you be angry with us always?" Why would God be angry? In Psalm 7:11 it says that God s angry with the wicked every day. Why would He be angry? They traded the One True God for their own gods of __________(fill in the blank). They rebelled against God and went their own way. They needed a wake-up call, a reminder of who God is and who they are? Do you need a wake-up call, a personal revival? |
