See You at the Pole

9/25/2019

Today is that day when students gather around their flag pole and pray for their school. I remember when this all started. Our students were reluctant to begin with for this had never been done. I remember at one school, one lonely girl stood at her school's flag poled and prayed. She was laugh at but she stood firm. The next year several more joined her and then the next year more. Actually, a small revival broke out in that school. When we were in Mission Orientation in 1995 we asked people to join us around the flag pole to pray for our world. Do we need to pray for our schools, for our students, for our states, for our countries? I think you know that answer.

Don't Settle for Less

Hebrews 3:2-3 (NLT2)
2  For he was faithful to God, who appointed him, just as Moses served faithfully when he was entrusted with God’s entire house.
3  But Jesus deserves far more glory than Moses, just as a person who builds a house deserves more praise than the house itself.

To the Jewish people , Moses was a great hero; he had led their ancestors ,the Israelites, from bondage to the border of the Promised Land. He had also written the first five books of the OT and he was a prophet whom God spoke through to the people. But Jesus is worthy of greater honor than Moses. Jesus is more than human, he is God himself.
As Moses led people out of Egyptian bondage, so Christ leads us out of sin’s slavery.
Why settle for Moses, the author of Hebrews asks, when you can have Jesus Christ, who actually appointed Moses?

Consider- Think Carefully

Hebrews 3:1 (NLT2)   And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest.
We see the word “consider” or in other translation is says,” think carefully,” to fix our minds “ ponder carefully’ focus on the true significance of Jesus.
How much do we do that?
In Jesus we have one to whom we should listen (Apostle) , through whom we come to the Father( High Priest) and to who we give obedience .
When you think about the significance and superiority of Jesus, how does it affect your life today?  Your decisions? Your actions? or does it?

Church Hoppers!

9/16/2019

1 Corinthians 7:17 (NLT2)   Each of you should continue to live in whatever situation the Lord has placed you, and remain as you were when God first called you. This is my rule for all the churches.
24  Each of you, dear brothers and sisters, should remain as you were when God first called you.
We have church hoppers everywhere. They go here and there trying to find the place they feel good in. They go to a particular church and when they find something wrong with that one they go to another one, and another one. God says, I called you to a a particular place , you stay. You do what you are called to do. Bloom where you are planted. Church hopper and never happy.
