It's Saturday! Jesus is dead, He is in a sealed tomb. It is guarded. The Jews have their Sabbath. The followers of Jesus are stunned, fearful, and in hiding. Heaven seems to be silent. The religious leaders are relieved. Jesus is dead. What are the disciples to do. They had lost all hope of a kingdom on earth. Their miracle worker is gone. But God is not finished. His plan is in order, there is another day.
When it seems all hope is lost remember there is another day and tomorrow we shall see that Light.

It's Friday- many things took place on this day in the life of our Lord. Trial after trial. Beatings, mockings, ridicule and finally the walk to the cross. He was so weak He could not carry the cross the whole way. He placed between two criminals. Then they crucified our Lord. To his friends and family the horror of it was perhaps overwhelming. The pain He suffered was beyond description . It was for us He died. It was upon Him the sin of the world. I remember a song," The man in the middle keeps giving His love away." He still does today.
When Jesus arrived in the city what did He do? He went to church( the Temple). But what did He find there. Around the area was a carnival of people selling and buying. It has become a business venture. So He began to drive out those who bought and sold in it. He then said," It is written,' My house is a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves." After He drove them out He was teaching daily in the temple. Is your church a House of Prayer?
Day 11, Thursday, March 22.
Israel Museum which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. Then we pay a sobering visit to Yad Vashem, Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. We return to the Old City through the Lion's Gate to visit St. Anne's church and the Pools of Bethsaida. Then we trave the Via Dolorosa. We end our day at Gordon's Calvary and the Garden Tomb. where in an inspiring service we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Following our dinner we head to the airport. Day 8, Monday March 19. We are going to two place we have never been- Bethany , where John the Baptist lived and did most of his ministry. next we cross the Allenby Bridge and go to Jericho, the oldest continually inhabited city. That is where Jesus restored the sight of Bartimaeus and went to the house of Zacchaeus.
We will view the Mount of Temptation and the drive south to the majestic fortress of Masada. Masada is a fortress that Herod the Great built. It is spectacular. Next we go to Qumran to view the caves where some of the Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Also in that area is where David hid from King Saul. And then a dip in the Dead Sea, where you float. Hope it is not cold. Last time the wind was bad and the waves were high. |
