How does man reject and suppress the knowledge of God?
Man Has Rejected God Through Intellectualism The word “thoughts’ in verse 21 is the Greek word from which we get our word “dialogue”. It means to reason. When man rejects and suppresses the knowledge of God, he has nothing left but his own reason. The best man can do in his own unaided intellect is to rearrange error. An error-filled dialogue does not lead to the truth. When man’s foolish heart is darkened, his heart becomes blinded to the truth(Eph.4:18). Rejection and suppression of truth is a downward spiral leading to the revelation of God’s wrath.

How does man reject and suppress the knowledge of God?
Man Has Rejected God Through Ingratitude “Nor were thankful,” Paul says about the heathen. Every man has been the recipient of God’s grace and goodness, the Bble says. Paul and Barnabas told the citizens of Lystra that God has witnessed to all people of His presence and goodness by giving rain from heaven and fruitful seasons,” filling our hearts with food and gladness” ( Acts 14:15b-17). Yet in the face of plenty , man does not thank God. Do you thank God? Do you have an Attitude of Gratitude? Is Good morning ,Lord or Good lord it's morning? THE HEATHEN ARE LOST BECAUSE OF THEIR REJECTION OF GOD
Romans 1:21-23 (NKJV) because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. How does man reject and suppress the knowledge of God? Man Has Rejected God Through Irreligion When man removes God from his thinking he become irreligious. The more he learns, the more confirmed he becomes in his unbelief. The “scientific world view” does not allow any room for God. Man may not know much about God, but the point is that he rejects what he does know.
The evidence of God’s personal and creative handiwork has been in creation from the beginning. No one can miss it: Psalm 8:1-3 (NKJV) 1 O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! 2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. 3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
There is in man that which longs to correspond with God- a God-shaped vacuum- a senses of oughtness- a realization of guilt. From the life of Paul we can give a good illustration: When they were shipwrecked and they were building a fire, a snake came out and bit Paul on the hand. The pagan natives concluded that he was being punished for some crime . How did they gain the knowledge that sin deserves punishment? Missionaries universally testify that they find no athetist in even the most primitive tribal setting. |
