In other words you have to wear God down until He gives in and gives you what you want. Beg- please, please, pretty please give me. Bargain- God if you will do this for me, I’ll do this for you. Lord if you will give me a promotion and I make more money I will begin to tithe. Bribe- look Lord I will start going to church regularly, I will give more, I will work in the church nursery, etc. It will not work!

The Third Fact About Prayer IS:
Our frustrations with prayer are caused by our misconceptions. There are so many false ideas about prayer out there. So what are some of these false ideas or misconceptions? There are at least four. They are on your outline.
God is not a genie where you can rub the magic bottle and suddenly God comes out and says,” Your wish is my command.” The Second Fact about Prayer is:.
We’re Not Very Good at Pray and we know it. Everyone feels inadequate. Many are afraid to pray in public. Even the Apostle Paul admitted this, Rom 8:26-“ We don’t even know what we should pray for, nor how we should pray…” Even those who teach on prayer will tell you that they are just learners in this area. The 12 disciples didn’t know how to pray that is why they ask Jesus,Luke 11:1-“ One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of the disciples said “ Lord teach us to pray…” Doubt is often hostile towards faith, but sometimes it is also a normal part of faith. The some of the greatest people in the Bible had moments of doubt. I remember how Abraham laughed at God when he heard that his wife was going to have a child at 90 years of age. Or how John the Baptist asked Jesus if He was really the Messiah. Remember this: Always take your doubts to Jesus. Talk to Him about questions you have. He can handle it.
" Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." ( Hebrews 11:1) " I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts."( Jeremiah 31:33)
God's Word belongs in real life. Therefore the biblical instruction to us is to write the commandments on the doorpost of our hearts. Meaning, it should become part of our daily household and normal life. But we must also walk through the door of life if we want to live forever. Christ is the only door giving us entry into eternal life, He is the way, and the life. When we walk through Him to God, then He walks with us on the narrow path leading to life. |
