The organization that has promoted Bible reading throughout the world is Gideons International. In 1985 , they produced this statement concerning the Word of God:
 
The Bible – it contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable( unchanging). Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy.
It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christians charter. Here paradise is restored, heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is the grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God the end.  It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who fool with its sacred contents.
 

The Word of God Is Jesus
Revelation 19:11-13 (ESV)   Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.   His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself.
13  He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God.
 
I made this statement before and I do not know if any heard it. The way you treat the Word of God is the way you treat Jesus.
If the Word is not precious, Jesus is not precious
If the word is not important , Jesus is not important.
If the word is not true. Jesus is not true.
If the word is not power, Jesus is not powerful.

The Word of God Is Solid Food
Hebrews 5:12-14 (ESV)   For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food,  for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child.   But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
 
The Word of God Is a Fire
Jeremiah 20:9 (NKJV)   Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.
 
Luke 24:32 (ESV)  They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”
 
 
 

The Word of God Is a Lamp
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)  Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
2 Peter 1:19 (ESV)  And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,
The Word of God Is Milk
1 Peter 2:2 (ESV)
 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation--
 

 The Word of God Is a Sword
         Ephesians 6:17 (ESV)  and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
 
         Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)  For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
 
The Word of God Is a Hammer
Jeremiah 23:29 (ESV)  Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
