" Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. "James 5:13-14 (NKJV)

I have always be perplexed over this. It clearly states if anyone is sick, let him/her call the elders to anoint with oil and pray. Now I have anointed with oil but normally on my initiative. But the Bible clearly states for the person to call on the elders. So why don't people call on the elders. They will moan and groan. Go to the doctor to get a shot or surgery but never call on Doctor Jesus . Why?

Abba Father, forgive me for not obeying You when I am suffering, cheerful or sick. You have clearly stated what to do. Forgive me for ignoring Your exhortation to do so. Help me in this area. Help me be obedient.- Amen!
