Don't Want To Hear

Too many today are like the children of Israel standing before the mountain all aglow with the presence of God and hearing His voice said to Moses, why don’t you talk with God and come to us and tell us what He says. (Exodus 19 and Deut. 18:16 says,” Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God or see this great fire anymore, lest I die.”).
Many people it appears are saying if not with their lips , with their lives, we don’t want to hear from God directly, you tell us what He says and we will do it.
There are some errors in this thinking:

1. The one delivering the message did he really get it from God or from other sources and is it reliable?
2. In Exodus they said,” We will do everything the Lord has commanded.” Here again we are confronted with surrender or commitment. Will people surrender to the will and way of God or just commit to another  cause or  a wave of emotion?
