" The fool says in his heart," There is no God."- Psalm 14:1
I found this article the other day: "There is no God -- that's the conclusion of the celebrated physicist Stephen Hawking, whose final book is published Tuesday. The book, which was completed by his family after his death, presents answers to the questions that Hawking said he received most during his time on Earth. Other bombshells the British scientist left his readers with include the belief that alien life is out there, artificial intelligence could outsmart humans and time travel can't be ruled out. Hawking, considered one of the most brilliant scientists of his generation, died in March at the age of 76."There is no God. No one directs the universe," he writes in "Brief Answers to the Big Questions." I just wonder, did Stephen Hawking find out he was right or wrong when he died? I would rather live as if there was a God and find out there is not one than live as is there is no God and find out there is a God. A fool or a friend of God: Which one?

" Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."-Hebrews 12:1-2
I see the finish line. I see Jesus standing there urging me on. There are the nail scarred hands beckoning me on. A smile is on His face. I truly hope I hear these words," Well done thy good and faithful servant." The supreme Model for the race is Jesus. the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Abba Father, help me to keep my eyes on Jesus. Strengthen me and help me to keep focus on the real thing, on Jesus. - Amen! " Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." -Hebrews 12:1-2
Some say that God doesn't have a plan for our lives but it says here He does. "The race that is set before us." That looks like God has a specific plan for our lives. I am to run it with endurance, setting aside whatever hinders me. The besetting sins, the old friends, the old hangouts are to be set aside so I can run the race with no hindrances. Abba Father, let me run the race You have before me. Let me lay aside the things that hinder me from running the good race. Lord, I am slow these days but I plan to finish well. Hel me, please!- Amen!
I used to think that the great saints who had gone before us watch us as life played out and that they were in the heavenly grandstands cheering us on. I came to realize that they set an example of walking and living by faith. The life of faith has been tested and proven true by many and we should know that the faith walk is the correct walk. Abba Father, thank You and the Christians who walked before me that show me the walk and life of faith. They are great examples of what faith looks like.- Amen! " And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him." Hebrews 11:6
Can I please God? This verse says I can. If I draw near to Him because I believe He exists. If I seek Him because I believe He rewards us, then He is pleased with me. This all done in the arena of faith. A belief in and a trust in God. Do I really believe in Him and do I really trust Him? Abba Father, yes, I believe. Yes, I trust in You. Yes, I do draw near to You and seek You. For by faith I walk and talk with You daily.- Amen! |
