" I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. There is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved his appearing."-2 Timothy 4:7-8
Am I fighting the good fight or have I given up? Will I finish the race ,well? Will I keep the faith? These are legitimate questions because I have known some who have not finished well. How do I finish well? Keep my eyes on Jesus! He is standing at the finish line. He is judging the race. Focus on Jesus!
Abba Father, help me fight, run the race, finish the course, keep the faith. Strengthen me daily. Fill me daily with the Holy Spirit. Let me be intentional and focus on You, Lord Jesus.- Amen!
" For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions,
and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths."2 Timothy 4:3-4 (ESV)
Do I keep on preaching what I believe God gives me every Sunday or should I go to the feel good sermons? I will get more people to come, is that the right thing to do?
I must listen to the truth and preach the truth. As A.W. Tozer says," The crowds are small when God is the only attraction."
Abba Father, may I continue to listen to You and hear from You the messages that You want to be presented. Please, protect me from going the easy way. Let me be bold and courageous.- Amen!
" For our appeal does not spring from error or impurity or any attempt to deceive,
but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. For we never came with words of flattery, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness."1 Thessalonians 2:3-5 (ESV)
Am I preaching and teaching the truth? Am I living to please men or to please God? I think I am pleasing God but I want to know for sure. It is real uncomfortable at times when I speak the Word of God. It seems to sting and people react negative to the Truth. But God exhorts me to continue.
Abba Father, let me be pleasing to You and obeying You daily.- Amen!
"Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.” -Jeremiah 9:23-24 (ESV)
Should I be boastful? Yes, I should boast in the Lord. He is the One to talk about, to give honor and praise to. It is not about me, it is all about the Lord Jesus Christ, who loved us so much He died on a horrible cross. Paul said we are to boast in the cross. The cross of Jesus Christ for it was there He redeemed us. Hallelujah!
Abba Father, I love You and I want to talk , think, boast only in Jesus. Help me to get off myself and on to You and then know the joy and peace of a pure relationship. - Amen!
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me."John 17:20-21 (ESV)
Christ Jesus is praying for us, His followers of the 21st century, to be one, for unity. Why? So that the world, people outside the church, may believe in Him. If we are not unified, in one accord, but in discord, we are not proclaiming a Gospel that is believable. The proof of our Christianity is our oneness but we can't agree. What are we to do, while a world s going to hell?
Abba Father, I want to be one who unites not divides. Let me love others with a love of Jesus. Let me not be judgmental and condemning but uplifting and caring with a compassionate heart.- Amen!
