Jeremiah 31:33 -"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. "
Psalm 119:11 -" I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." What happen to memorizing the Word of God? We can memorize lines in a movie, or a song. We can memorize sports statistics or math facts but what about the Word of God? Fortunately, there are a few who have committed verses to memory. Fortunately, there parents who are helping their children memorize Scripture. We have a father who has taught his 3 year to memorize and quote Psalm 23. Your defense against temptation is as strong as your Scripture memory. No wonder we have so many getting their spiritual brains beat out of them because they have no defense.

An old Southern preacher said,
It's time for our church to wake up and sing up, preach up and pray up and never give up or let up or back up or shut up, until the church is filled up and we go up.Amen!" Can you say Amen to this? It's time.... " But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil."- Hebrews 5:14 (ESV)
To distinguish between right and wrong is not always that easy. As is choosing to go left or right. To be able to distinguish correctly requires a lifetime of practice in the Lord's way of wisdom. Pray to Him every day and plead for the special gift of wisdom in your life. so that you can distinguish clearly which road to take. Let His Spirit guide your thoughts and your whole life. " Do everything without complaining and arguing." Philippians 2:14
It seems like some religious people like to complain. They know exactly all of the things that are wrong in the church. They are "deeply" troubled by it. The pastor is never good enough. Everybody suffers under their discontented eye. Don't be like that. Resign from the complaints commission. Choose to see the good that God has placed in each one of us. Be an expert in noticing God's handiwork, big and small. Then you won't have time to be discontented or unhappy. I mentioned yesterday about our men's study. By the way, only a few of the men have taking advantage of the study. But those who have done so have greatly benefited from it. Maybe 12 total are meeting with me three different times a week. We have looked at Job. When we compare our lives to Job we have not suffered at all. 1 Peter 4:19 says," Those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good."
Here is the principle of this study of Job:" God makes men by allowing us to gain through suffering what can be gained no other way." Are you learning anything from God? |
