Romans 3:1-2 (ESV) " Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2 Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God.
In some translations the oracles of God is translated the words of God. The question: What advantage has the Jew? The answer: has been entrusted with the very words of God. So now let’s look at THE PRIORITY OF THE WORD OF GOD The advantage of the Jews, then was this: They had been made custodians of God’s special revelation. It was a wonderful privilege which had been given to no other nation.” He declares His word to Jacob, His statues, and His judgments to Israel. He has not dealt thus with any other nation.” Psalm 147:19-20

" God makes men by turning what breaks our hearts into a passionate calling to help redeem some broken part of His world."
Patrick Morley's passion is discipling men and boy has he done it. Rod's passion is for the homeless. Every time he shows up with help , he says, God shows up too. And Eric's calling is marriage. Today, he and his wife teach marriage classes at their church and counsel couples in trouble> Has God produced a passion through your broken heart or you still sitting around trying to figure it out? I have two passions: discipling men and revival. In our men's groups we are studying a book,"How God Makes Men." It is the lives of ten prominent men of the Bible and how God used them. We look at the biblical principle behind their work for the Lord. We just finished Nehemiah. What an incredible man. When he heard the news about his beloved Jerusalem , he sat down and wept. He prayed. He did something about it. The news broke his heart. The author, Patrick Morley, asked," What is something that is breaking your heart?" What is it? Or is there anything breaking your heart? What about the taking of innocent lives(abortion)? What about the violence and senseless killings in homes, schools, and in the streets? What about open and rampant immorality ? Or what about those in your family going to hell? Or fractured families? What breaks your heart?
Jeremiah 23:25 - " I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in my name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’"
Yes, God speaks to us through dreams but not all dreams are from God. Jeremiah warned against those people who confuse their dreams with God's voice, even worse, such false dreamers can mislead others. Godly dreams will always line up with God's Word. It will confirm the presence of His Spirit , and build people up in the faith. Sometimes God warns us not to go a direction we are considering. Dreams always bow before the authority of Scripture. Otherwise those dreams are just nightmares. You do know that Christ is revealing Himself to many around the world in order for them to come to Him through dreams. Matthew 14:31 -Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Doubt is often hostile towards faith, but sometimes it also a normal part of faith. The greatest figures in the Bible had moments of doubt. I remember Abraham laughed at God when he heard that his wife was going to have a child at her old age. Or how John the Baptist inquired as to Jesus was really the Messiah. Remember this rule: take your doubts to Jesus. Talk to Him about the questions that bother you. He likes to answer questions and satisfy doubts. |
