Romans 8:28-29 (ESV)
28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. Romans 8:37-39 (ESV) 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. There is so, so much more and we will see to it that we get them.

I want to share just a few of the key verses in Romans:
Romans 1:16-17 (ESV) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” Romans 3:23 (ESV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 5:1 (ESV) 1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 6:23 (ESV) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Martin Luther said of Romans: “ It is the true masterpiece of the NT and the very purest Gospel, which is well worthy and deserving that a Christian man should not only learn it by heart, word for word, but also that he should daily deal with it as the daily bread of men’s souls. For it can never be too much or too well read or studied; and the more it is handled the more precious ot becomes and the better it tastes.”
The Practical Reason So many revivals and reformations have come from someone or a group studying and applying Romans. Certain great Bible scholars have said they have never seen a man tangled up in false philosophies or religious cults who knew accurately the facts of Romans. The book possesses the blessings of security in Christ and spiritual strength. What is the third reason we need to study Romans?
The Spiritual Reason In the book of Romans you will find some of the prime secrets of the spiritual life:
The second reason we need to get into Romans is:
The Doctrinal Reason The book of Romans deals with a number of theological issues in a very comprehensive way. What are some of these issues: The Resurrection; Christ’ deity; Christ’s humanity Faith; Judgment; Sin and depravity; justification; Reconciliation; Sanctification; Security; Election; the Second Coming of Christ and the judgment of believers. You see most of our pew warmers do not have a clue about some of these doctrines. They are so used to absorbing good vibrations and going home without really knowing who Jesus Christ is and what He teaches and commands us. |
