Since this week we are approaching Thanksgiving, let us be thankful. Tomorrow we wil celebrate our annual International Thanksgiving luncheon at Capital City. We will bring tables and chairs out to accommodate all those who come. We will have food abundantly. The weather will be perfect and the fellowship wonderful. It will be a glorious gathering of the Family of Faith and guests. Next week families will gather on Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving. Of course, food is always abundantly. What pleasant and great chance to build great memories. It is time to "give thanks with a grateful heart."

" A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power."- Ephesians 6:10
Paul is talking to us here. If he had to say "Be strong" then this would indicate there are those who are weak in the Lord. The apostle John called these," little children." I way too many weak believers. They buckle under at every little trial or temptation. They are the ones always crying , complaining, moaning and groaning. They are the ones always asking for personal prayer because they are not strong nor are they growing strong. Are you a weak or strong Christians? Do want to be strong? " A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power". _ Ephesians 6:10
The admonitions Paul gives here indicate that Satan is a strong enemy and that we need the power of God to be able to stand against him. Never, ever underestimate the power of the devil. He is not compared to a lion and a dragon just for fun. The Book of Job tells what his power can do to a man's body, home, wealth, and friends. Jesus called Satan a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy.( John 10:10) No only is Satan strong, but he is intelligent and subtle, and he doesn't play fair. " After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. John 21:1-3 (ESV) It is interesting that at least seven of the twelve disciples were probably fishermen. Why did Jesus call so many fishermen to follow Him? For one thing, fishermen are courageous, and Jesus needs brave people to follow Him. They are also dedicated to one thing and cannot easily be distracted. Fishermen do not quit! (We are thinking, of course, of professional fishermen, not idle people on vacation!) They know how to take orders, and they know how to work together. It is amazing how many today are pure lazy and useless in the kingdom of God. You ask them to do something for the Lord and the excuses you will get. Would Jesus call you to be a "fisher of men"? Or just pass you by? Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered him, “No.” He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. John 21:4-6 (ESV)
It was time for Jesus to take over the situation, just as He did when He called Peter into discipleship. He told them where to cast the net; they obeyed, and they caught 153 fish! The difference between success and defeat in the kingdom is whether we obey Jesus. We are never far from success when we permit Jesus to give the orders, and we are usually closer to success than we realize. |
