Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? Galatians 4:6 (ESV) And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” The Holy Spirit, God Himself lives inside of a believer. It can be translated this way:” all of you together are the temple of God and the Spirit of God lives within you.” If this be true then we who have the Holy Spirit living within us, should be hearing and understanding the same truth and be unified in this Truth. Hebrews 3:7 (ESV) Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, If the Holy Spirit dwells , lives within you, you should be able to hear His voice.

The Comforter
I want you to see how the Amplified Bible puts it: John 14:16 (AMP) 16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever— What multiple functions the Holy Spirit has with us. He us a powerful person on our side, working for us and with us. How often has He comforted you? I am sure many times. He loves to do that. Before we look closer at the Holy Spirit I want to tell you a conversation a friend had with a pastor. This friend was visiting this church and afterwards talked with the pastor. She ask the pastor what was the position of the church on the Holy Spirit. The pastor replied ,"Oh, we don't teach about him, it is too controversial." You can imagine my reaction to that. Let's begin to see who the Holy Spirit is and how important He is in the believer's life.
Let’s look at God’s Word and see The Holy Spirit: The Sent One, The Helper, The Teacher John 14:26 (ESV) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. He is sent by God: to help us and to teach us and He helps us to remember. As we study the Bible, we can trust the Holy Spirit to plant truth in our mind, convince us of God’s will and remind us when we stray from it. We will be heading to Texas this afternoon after church and we would appreciate a little prayer coverage. Thank you!
Jesus gives a little description of the Holy Spirit in John 3:7-8 (ESV) Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” He is like the wind. You hear and feel but you cannot see. In Acts 2:2-3 (ESV) 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. “ Illus: A friend of mine was in a meeting with some men and they were on their knees praying. He said after it was over some of the men began discussing the prayer meeting and they ask my friend who was their guest, “Did you feel the wind?” It was so strong we could not get up even if we wanted to.” My friend said, he did not but these men experienced the mighty rushing wind, the presence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is The Only Mediator
No man can be a mediator between God and man. Only Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 2:5 (ESV) 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, Hebrews 1:3 (ESV) 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, Hebrews 7:25-26 (ESV) 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. 26 For it was indeed fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. |
