Too, too many Christians are “betweeners”; They live between Egypt and the Promised Land.- saved but never satisfied. They live between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. Believing in the cross but not entering into the power and glory of the resurrection.
Romans 6:5 indicates that our union with Christ assures our future resurrection should we die. But Romans 6:4 teaches that we share His resurrection power today. Col.3:1,3 says,” Since , then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above… For you died and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Are you a betweener- saved but not satisfied- believing in Him but not living in Him.Let me just asked you some questions and you decide today: Do you have a hunger and thirst for righteousness? That is you want to be a true follower of Jesus Christ and live like Him Do you have a desire to see people come to Christ? Do you ever share your testimony with anyone? Do you ever invite anyone to church, to a Bible study? What about your giving? Do you give regularly what God wants you to give to His church? What about your desire or lack of desire to be in the Word of God and how about your prayer life? Here is the last question: When convicted by the Holy Spirit to do something or not to do something, you say, “One day I will”. Depending on how you answer these questions is whether you are a “betweener” or you are “ living in the Promised Land of abundant living.

" I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
Men will rise up even from your own number and distort the truth to lure the disciples into following them. Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for three years I never stopped warning each one of you with tears. "Acts 20:29-31 Yes, we have been warned of wolves among us, There are those within our congregations that Satan will use to lead people away from the truth., to destroy their faith in the real and true God. Wolves in sheep's clothing. We must be constantly alert and be watchful. Abba Father, reveal the wolves among us. May I be ever watchful and alert of those who are trying to lead the sheep astray. Help me to be strong and courageous. Give me Your rod and staff to protect and comfort. Your presence and your power.- Amen! We all experience discouragement, and sometimes it can almost be overwhelming. Elijah...had been one of God's faithful servants, never wavering in the face of disaster. God used Elijah to overcome the pagan prophets of Baal and demonstrate to all the nation that God alone was worthy of their worship. We hav stood twice on that Mt. Carmel and sensed this great event.
But now, only days later, discouragement and depression have almost overwhelmed him... Elijah flees into the desert and concludes he is a failure. God showed Him His glory, reminding Elijah of the greatness of the God he served. When discouragement comes and you wonder if you can go on remember Elijah- and be encouraged. [ Elijah] came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die." I have had enough, Lord," he said.- 1 Kings 19:4
6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. 9 We are sure of this because Christ was raised from the dead, and he will never die again. Death no longer has any power over him. 10 When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. Ravi Zacharias said,"Sin will always take you farther than you want to go. Keep you longer than you want to stay. And cost you more than you want to pay." Sin is a terrible master and it finds a willing servant in the human body. The body itself is not sinful , it is neutral. It can be controlled by sin or by God. But man’s fallen nature , which is not changed at conversion, gives sin a foothold from which it can attack and then control. Paul clearly expressed this problem when he said in
Romans 7:18 (NKJV) 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. A tremendous fact is introduced here: The old man( the old ego, self) was crucified with Christ so that the body need not be controlled by sin. The phrase “ that the body of sin might be done away with” means rendered inactive, made of no effect. |
