Capital City Baptist Church began in 1954 as an English-speaking service and Bible study of the Mexican First Baptist Church. There were several English-speaking families who wanted to worship and study the Bible in English right in the heart of Mexico City. In 1958 this group established this church and began to meet in various locations around the city. In 1967 the church was donated some land by Mr. S Boling Wright in memory of his wife Mary Conger Wright at the corner of Calle Sur 138 and Bondojito near the American School Foundation and ABC Hospital. The cornerstone ceremony was observed on July 2, 1972 and the first building was completed in November, 1972 on the property the church is currently located. The original intent of the founders of CCBC was to reach the English-speaking community of Mexico City and to all whom so desired to come. Over the years the church has developed into an International community with people from all over the world. The church has a service in English and one in Spanish. We are International, Inter-denominational and a Purpose Driven church. We are self-supporting, receiving no support from outside sources. Basically, we are an independent, autonomous church in government and in structure. We cooperate with other Christian groups but we are not affiliated with any convention or denomination. Capital City is a different kind of church. We like to say that it is a small picture of what heaven will be like with every tribe, tongue and nation represented. Capital City supports twelve missionaries who are located in Spain, Canada, Chihuahua, Toluca, Teotihuacan, and Mexico City. We also work with various mission organizations and orphanages. We have established several other congregations around the country. We have different outreach projects each year which include choir concerts, Vacation Bible Schools, conferences for women and men both in English and Spanish. We have Men's Ministry (Men’s Fraternity), Women's Ministry (WOW and THRIVE), Youth and Children. |
