For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV) All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 1 Corinthians 2:13 (ESV) And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. God inspired the writers , so their message is authentic and reliable. God used the talents, education, experience of each writer . In some cases He actually dictated His words to them. Many of the prophets would say, “ The word of the Lord came to me…”

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that we belong to him and that he will do what he promised. The Holy Spirit is like a down payment, a deposit. The presence of the Holy Spirit demonstrates the genuineness of our faith, proves that we are God’s children and secures eternal life for us. His power works in us to transform us now.
18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. Listen to me very, very carefully- When you are considering a church this is not the question to ask : What can they offer me? What do they have for the children, the youth, etc. ? Here is the question you should ask: What can I offer to the church? How can I serve in the church to help build it, to help unify it. First You should pray, ask God is this where you want me to serve? Too many people go shopping for a church and see which one they like the best. When you unite with a church you become part of that Body , for however time God so chooses. He is The Gift Giver
1 Corinthians 12:4 (NLT2) There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 1 Corinthians 12:11 (NLT2) It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have. 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT2) A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other and build up the Body of Christ. Are you aware that when you were born again and the Spirit of God began to dwell in your life, you were given a spiritual gift and sometimes you are given more than one. God is completely involved in the giving, using, and empowering of gifts. Specific gifts, places of service, and activities vary, but they all have their best effects when they build up the body of Christ- the church. Do you know your gift or gifts? Do you know how you can know your spiritual gift? If you know your spiritual gift are you using it to build up the body of Christ? It is He, the Holy Spirit who renews us, revives us. Only through His power can that renewal and revival take place.
Let me end today with this. Simon Peter went to the house of Cornelius, a God-fearing Gentile. As he was teaching and preaching to this group of people Acts 10:44 records, “Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.” Oh, that the Holy Spirit would fall as in that day. As I read in Judges yesterday, “ And there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord or the work he had done for Israel.”( Judges 2:10) We have a generation that either they do not know the Lord or they have not seen the work of the Lord. Oh, that the Holy spirit might come and do a mighty work. |
