How does one grow spiritually:
First, I believe you must be discipled, mentored by a mature believer. You need someone to nurture you. Someone to show you the way. Someone who you can be accountable to and who will challenge you.' If Jesus major commandment was the Great Commission : “Go make disciples”.If you were not discipled, then I am sorry but it not too late. We have talked about this over and over. You need to get with someone and you more mature followers need to start discipling. If you are discipled , you will probably mature in Christ very few do it on their own.

Paul said to a group in1 Corinthians 3:1-2 (ESV) 1 But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready, No one is born an adult. We are babies. We need to be feed , clothed, care for by others. I am afraid some here have never been nurtured properly when you were born again and you are still infants. Unable to partake of serious spiritual food. Let me use the physical fitness illustration: I often mention about the gym and the guy that is always working out. He is bulk up. I have observed him:
So the only way your spirit can become alive is through the new birth. And Jesus explains this ,too. Again, I want to show you what Jesus said in a more up-to-date language: John 3:13-18 (MSG)
13 "No one has ever gone up into the presence of God except the One who came down from that Presence, the Son of Man. 14 In the same way that Moses lifted the serpent in the desert so people could have something to see and then believe, it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up— 15 and everyone who looks up to him, trusting and expectant, will gain a real life, eternal life. 16 "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. 17 God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. No one goes to hell for being bad they go to hell for "unbelief". The Message clarifies it for us: John 3:3-6 (MSG)
3 Jesus said, "You're absolutely right. Take it from me: Unless a person is born[spirit] from above, it's not possible to see what I'm pointing to—to God's kingdom." 4 "How can anyone," said Nicodemus, "be born[spiritual] who has already been born and grown up? You can't re-enter your mother's womb and be born again. What are you saying with this 'born-from-above' talk?" 5 Jesus said, "You're not listening. Let me say it again. Unless a person submits to this original creation—the 'wind hovering over the water' creation, the invisible moving the visible, a baptism into a new life—it's not possible to enter God's kingdom. 6 When you look at a baby, it's just that: a body you can look at and touch. But the person who takes shape within is formed by something you can't see and touch—the Spirit—and becomes a living spirit. So we have in this life where the soul and the body are dominating because the spirit is dead. Man tries to bring the spirit alive through religious processes: meditation, all sorts of religious practices, Buddhism, Scientology, ritualism, cults of all sorts. They all fail because they are empty not true spiritual like God inteneded. So what do we do?
Nothing- for it has already been done. Watch this---- Jesus Brought Life to Us we can't do it! Jesus came into this world to seek and to save. He brought life and light to this world. He had to explain this to a ruler of the Jews by the name of Nicodemus. |
