I read through the Book of Revelation every month. There are 22 chapters. So I have read through this magnificent book numerous times. Each time there is this amazing wonder to it. But the most frightening is not the plagues, and the bowls of wrath it is found in chapter 20. It says this," ...and books were opened, And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books."(vs.12)
When I first read this a sense of dreadful fear fell over me. I then asked God , is my name written in the Book of Life? This is a question we should all ask. The response I received from the Lord was,"Yes, your name is written in the Book." Oh, what assurance that is. Oh, what joy that brings. Is you name written in the Book of Life?

Acts 1:8 (NASB)
... but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." From A.W.Tozer, " You know the Church started out with a Bible , then it got a hymnbook, and for years that was it- a Bible and a hymnbook. The average church now certainly wouldn't be able to operate on just a hymnbook and the Bible. Now we have to have all kinds of stuff. A lot of people couldn't serve God at all without at least a vanload of equipment to keep them happy." From "The Man in the Mirror" by Patrick Morley
TOO BUSY Ron Jensen rented a travel camper and traveled around the country with his wife while working on his doctoral thesis. His task was to interview 350 Christian leaders. At the end of this tour, he made a discouraging observation. He said,: I found a great deal of zeal for God's work, but very little passion for God." The one exception he found was Cru founder Bill Bright, who wept openly as he spoke about his love for Jesus. Oh, for us to have that passion for Jesus today. Oh, for me to have that passion for Jesus. |
