About Town Hall for Hope with Dave Ramsey

The other night our church participated with 6000 other locations in the Town Hall for Hope with Dave Ramsey. It was truly an uplifting event. Dave gave some economic and historical data that was helpful but he also gave some other information that I believe every person should take seriously and to heart. His first three statements were these:

1. Love people enough to allow them to fail. Failure is good. I can tell you that many do not and will not allow their family or friends to fail. They will enable them, bail them out, or do what they can do to not let them be hurt in anyway or be discomforted.

2. Learn to use the two letter word –“NO” It seems like we have lost the ability to say NO in many areas and particularly when it comes to money and luxury.

3. Take personal responsibility. We have so many blaming Wall St., the government, society, someone else except themselves. Listen we have all made mistakes, blunders, and we did it, not someone else.

Then Dave gave some helpful advice that all should adhere to and start practicing right now right now.

1. Get up! Take action! Be pro-active and have the right attitude. Too many of us like to whine when that doesn’t help, so take positive action.

2. Don’t participate in loser talk. If you hang around with losers you soon develop into one. Hang out with winners. Read good positive books.

3. Learn to give again! It is the givers that have hope and peace. It is the givers that are more like Jesus Christ because He gave. Don’t be a taker but a giver.
